About Lake Bowen, SC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Lake Bowen is a well-known recreational area found in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It is one of three lakes operated and owned by the Spartanburg Water System. The lake contains 1,534 acres of water that serves as the primary water supply for county residents. Lake Bowen is found about nine miles north of Spartanburg on South Carolina Highway 9, and I-26 crosses over it. The average depth of water throughout the lake is 15 feet, although the maximum depth is over 40 feet.

Despite its importance in providing locals with water, Lake Bowen is also a prime location for swimming, boating, fishing, and other water sports. Anchor Park, which is located in Inman, SC, provides access to the lake, and it offers boat ramps, a fishing pier, and picnic areas. Boating permits are required to get on the water in Lake Bowen, so it is important that guests review all rules and regulations prior to visiting the area.

Lake Bowen is a popular place to visit throughout the year as sports, activities, and recreational opportunities change with the seasons. When the summer season sets in, temperatures rise into the 80s and 90s, and high humidity leads to thick, sticky air. Homes and businesses need to provide a safe place to cool off, and this can be achieved with the right central air conditioner or the cooling action of a heat pump.

The winter season here is mild, so the lake is still a beautiful place to visit. It will not freeze over like bodies of water in northern states. Average daily highs are in the 50s, although warmer days in the 60s and even 70s are possible. While spending time outdoors at the lake may be comfortable during the day throughout the winter, temperatures are chilly overnight, so a furnace or heat pump is needed to keep indoor temperatures comfortable.
